Early in my career, I focused on using technology to meet customer needs. I conducted laboratory research to study the effects of ultrasound on human tissue to support transdermal drug delivery (e.g. needleless insulin injection). For a global manufacturer, I investigated and modeled issues with medical devices, determining root cause and developing automated solutions to improve safety and customer experience.
For over 4 years, I led international consulting teams for multi-national corporate clients. As engagement manager for the development of Biogen's first enterprise-wide data strategy, I designed the research and structured the proposal to the Board. For Intel's $17B acquisition of Altera, I crafted the transition brand strategy which expanded the customer base and boosted revenue the subsequent year. Other notable projects include emerging market entry, valuation, and portfolio optimization.
I taught myself to code in Python and quickly became addicted, staying up all night building games and small apps. I expanded my skillset by pair programming with senior developers, studying CS theory, and building more sophisticated web apps with Django and Rails. At Ragtag, I built features for an open-source Rails API that is a Call-To-Action aggregator across the United States.
In 2018 I started working as a software engineer at the fintech Block, Inc. (formerly Square) in San Francisco. For the global consumer-facing CashApp, I led a project to architect and optimize a paradigm shift of the data model across 100s of Java/Kotlin services and dataflows. This enabled CashApp to launch new types of products, like gift cards. I led other engineering projects including a monolith extraction to micro-service and an adaptation of the Square investment platform to support the launch of Square's new U.S. bank, which fundamentally changed the automated lending process.
Eager for broader horizons, I relocated to France to pursue French nationality, where I developed a Java Spring Boot flashcard app to accelerate my language learning. It paid off with lifetime DELF B2 French certification. As AI proliferated rapidly, I dove in with excitement, developing an MCP server which orchestrates responses from multiple LLMs. I also built a RAG chatbot complete with a bespoke ingestion pipeline and evaluation harness.
